Router is RAEX 500 and Iphone 16 Pro 6G
So I have the RAEX 500 router and just purchased the new iPhone 16 Pro. when I go to connect to 6G, it says limited compatibility.? I have tried multiple settings to change and yet it still does this...

the RAXE500's 6ghz is weird. Its not been integrated into the "smart connect" option for the ssid. While you can set it with the same ssid as the 2.4/5ghz, I'm not sure how this impacts its band steering since it isn't integrated. have you tried it with a different ssid?
- WirelessericDec 23, 2024TutorI have not tried changing my SSID for the 6G channel, you think that will work? As apple is saying they all need to be the same? Thanks

I never likes (smart connect) as in my experience everything usually defaults to the 2.4 channel. Maybe some software upgrades or new routers are different but that's was my experience with an older Netgear router. What's really odd is I'm able to be on the Internet when it says 6G on my phone and limited compatibility but again it's great out on my router interface as to what channel it's actually on. Lol.
Thank you for the reply!

That's down to your wifi clients. A more common complaint here is that everything connects to 5 GHz which screws up people who want their mobile on 2.4 GHz so that they can install Internet of Things (IoT) things.

My 2.4 Lot Devices are working fine, I don't have a lot of them. only 2 that are not hardwired into the router itself.
Thank you!

So, an update- My 2.4 GHZ is one name not -2G, the rest are SSID-5G SSID-6, would chnaging my 2.4 SSID to -2G as set up on the other 5G and 6E channeles help?
our client devices i.e. iPhone 16 Pro do roam correctly between the 5G and 6G channels as we move around the house and in the yard.
Thank you for any advice. I'm afraid to change that SSID on the 2.4 as it seems to be working pretty good except for the Apple warning saying not fully compatible but everything is working correctly except on my Interface for the router it doesn't show when I'm connected to the 6G but does if I'm connected to the 2.4/5. It just shows as a blank where the 2.4/5/6 or wired directly shows under Connect devices.

I was just told this is a known issue and a new Firmware update will resolve it in a few months.
Hope that’s coming along that soon.

Was that from a Netgear source?
