router replacment - keeping network name and password

Yes, depending on the wifi security used, you can set the same wifi name and password (network key) as your existing router. Login to your new router, look under setup and wireless.

Also, remember to turn off the wifi on your older modem/router if you are not replacing it.

almost worked perfectly. my mistake apparently was to chenge the network name and password during the initial setup. This initially worked, got all devices connected. However, when I ran into a glitch in the app and froze, the app could not find the router even though all my devices remained connected. Very, very strange, uninstalled teh app, unplugged the modem and router, it could not find the new network name and kept asking me to connnect to the default network name the router came with. Wound up calling tech support, so for any newbies li,e me out there, here are the steps I took. Reset the router (paper clip in small hole on back for 30 seconds) compelte the install with the default network name and password the router comes with. Only then, change the network name and password and everything reconnects automatically (for the most part except for some fiddling with a few wifi devices) and all is working just fine now.
