I previously had good service to an older Netgear router, WAX214v2, but when I installed version 2 of the subject router, no of the APs have worked. I do have good internet if I connect a laptop to the same Ethernet cable (250 ft long to an outbuilding). I set up a TP-Link AX3000 in AP mode this morning and can see it on wifi and can access its setup page, but still no internet connection.
The problem is definitely in the Nighthawk. It will serve a laptop on that ethernet, but not an AP. Why?
You ask a good question. If your Ethernet connection will assign an IP address to a laptop and thus provide access to the internet, there could be a problem with the configuration of the access point (AP). With your old router in place, the configuration of the router and the AP were compatible. With your new router in place you may need to change the configuration of your AP. Also it is possible the new router configuration need to be changed.
The question FURRYe38 asks is critical, as is the answer. Does your AP obtain an IP address from the DHCP function of your new router or is the AP configured for a fixed IP address?
