RX50 2.4g download speed very slow
Hi All, I have a giga blast network. My 5gig download speed is around 800 MPS I recently noticed that my 2.4gig is downloading only at 76 MPS Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciat...
What Firmware version is currently loaded?
What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?
Be sure your using a good quality LAN cable between the modem and router. CAT6 is recommended.
What connection rates are you seeing with devices connected on 2.4Ghz.
Is Smart Connect enabled or disabled?
Do you have 40Mhz channel width set?
Most 2.4Ghz devices will cap out at anywhere from 50 to 100Mpbs depending on there design and support. 2.4Ghz mostly will never see speeds near 800Mpbs. " 2.4GHz AX: 2x2 (Tx/Rx) 1024/256-QAM
20/40MHz, up to 600Mbps" <This is a connection rate only between the router and wifi devices that support this connection rate. This differs from bandwidth speeds.
Hi Furry and thanks for your reply. See my answers below. Before I respond, my ,speeds have nee percent until recently Nothing changed on my end or from the ISP. I also worked in Broadband for years as an engineer for a major company and am baffled by this issue.

I use a Netgear COX (my ISP) certified CM1100 which is connected to my Netgear RX50
Be sure your using a good quality LAN cable between the modem and router. CAT6 is recommended.

Getting very good rates and even have some streaming using 2.4Ghz

Smart connect is not enabled nor would I enable it as some of my devices cannot toggle to 5 from 2.4 and has been disabled since I have configured my set up for 3 years now

I'm not sure what you're doing but I've never gotten anywhere close to 300mbps over 2.4ghz.
max has been maybe 150mbps and that's not sustained. that's short bursts. My maximum average over 2.4ghz has been 70-100mbps. Usually less than that as I'm in an area with congested 2.4ghz signals.

This it not a reliable indicator of the firmware version.
If you are using the onboard check, it is famously unreliable.
The only useful guided when troubleshooting is to tell the people here the version number.
Then they can check against the library on versions on the support pages for that model. For example, if you have the RAX50, there is no RX50, start here:

Be warned that there are a couple of versions of the RAX50. Look at the label on yours to see which you have.

Sounds like magic if you read this:

That's a highly rated source of information on WiFi speeds, much cited around here.
It is not easy to interpret – all that technical detail – but you'll see that it talks of 72 to 217 Mbps as the stretch of 2.4 GHz.
Other, more easily understood and less technical sources, put it below that.
As plemans says, heaven only knows how you got 300 Mbps.

The RAX50 I own has no rev number so the label says RAX50 only. The Firmware version is: V 1.0.12.120_2.0.83 and according to Netgear is the latest version for this unit

I am using CAT5 which is what I have been using since I installed the units. Anything hardwired is also CAT5 and the devices are all operating fine. My biggest issue is if I use 2.4Ghz on my Macbook (so of course I am using 5Ghz for my Macbook which is the one I use most of the time) or iMac using Wifi, download is very slow which is odd as some of the other devices are using Wifi 2.4Ghz and stream fine??

Only allows to enable disable 20/40 Nothing to set it only for 40Mhz that I can find in the BASIC>WIRELESS TAB>Under 2.4Ghz

CAT5 is only officially supporting of 100Mbps. To get best speeds and operation performance CAT6 should be used to ensure the connection rate is getting the full 1000Mpbs speed.

By UN-Checking the check box seen here, sets 40Mhz only mode of operation.
