RX80 constantly failing

I recently purchased a Netgear RAX80 (AX8).  and have had constant problems with the wireless.  Running speed tests when the router is under load and sending/recieving a lot of data leaves me with a .08 upload rate on wifi. This usually only happens after a few minutes of operating normally.

Download speeds even during this issue remain somewhat normal/stable.

As an example, I was downloading a 1.4gig file for work, and each time I would monitor the traffic, and the download would go great for a period of time, and then slow down to a crawl, and then cancel itself.  Reboot the router, and it would be great for 5 minutes again, then do the same.  Each time was with moving large amounts of data on the wifi connection.

I think it's overheating.  after a large number of settings changes, I checked on the router and it was hot to the touch.  When this happens, a reboot fixes the problem for a short period of time, but not permanently (I presumer the reduced load is allowing the router to cool slightly so it can begin to operate again).  The router is in a well ventelated area away from other electronics or other things that would be generating heat.  I have noticed that the only time the Fan comes on is on bootup.  I am going to try setting a case fan under the router to see if that aleviates the issues temporarily.

I have disabled all features of this router, and am running it in the most basic 2.4G/5G level of operation currently, and it's still problematic.  I do have a large number of devices on this network (large for me, there are typically 6 wireless speakers, 6 wireless outlets/lights, 3 tv's, 2 phones, 2 tablets, 2 laptops)  Average is about 28 connected devices over wireless/wired at any given moment.

It seems as though internal network traffic runs okay.  I have a small media server that is on a wired connection that I have been able to play content off of, but whenever I have to reach out to the internet, I encounter problems.  I'm not sure what other methods of troubleshooting I can do.  I since have hooked up my old ASUS router, and do not have any issues at all. (I assumed it was my cable modem for a period of time, but have completely ruled that out as an option)  The problems start, and stop with this router.

This was a pretty big investment and i'm pretty dsiappointed if this is the outcome.  I'm also a little disappointed in the management interface compared to my ASUS router, but that has no bearing on my current issue.
