Switched ISP but I can't connect to RAX70 router network
I have just moved from BT to Plusnet (UK) and am trying to set up my RAX70 again, but I'm not able to connect to the Netgear router network. I'm using the Netgear app on my mobile but when I go through the "new set up" option to connect to the Netgear network, it just isn't displayed as an option. In fact, it's only displaying the old BT wifi networks, which are no longer available as I've moved away from them. What am I missing? I've tried resetting the router but no joy there. I have noticed the amber LED on the RAX70, which was originally flashing, is now staying on solid, I thought that should turn white?
Any pointers would be appreciated as it's driving me crazy! The RAX70 worked perfectly when with BT and I thought it would be an easy swap to Plusnet, how wrong was I!
TIA

Which LED? If it is the power LED, then you may have broken firmware. That can happen if you turn things on and off at random.

It sounds like you have replaced the BT HomeHub with whatever Plusnet provides, As they come from the same comoany -- Plusnet is a BT (EE) subsidiary -- they may be similar in their technology.
If so, the HomeHub does not have a "modem only" mode. So you have to work out a way to get your RAX70 to play nicely with the modem/router (gateway).
First, remember to restart things in the right order.
Be sure to restart your network in this sequence:
- Turn off and unplug modem.
- Turn off router and computers.
- Plug in and turn on modem. Wait 2 minutes for it to connect.
- Turn on the router and wait 2 minutes for it to connect.
- Turn on computers and rest of network.
If you reset the RAX70 and connect it to the gateway, it may try to use an IP address that does not clash with whatever the gateway is on. BT's goes for something like 192.168.1.2XX which will clash with Netgear's 192.168.1.1. Your RAX70 may go for something like 10.0.0.1. That can work fine unless you have a lot of stuff that wants to work on a 192.168.1.X address.
There are ways around this. But first you need to work out is the RAX70 is still alive.
If it is dead, you may have to perform major surgery. That is where TFTP can come in.
There is more severe, recovery reset, that you could try:
- Press reset for 30 seconds
- Keep pressing reset while removing power
- Keep pressing reset for another 30 seconds while apply power
Some people say that this doesn't work on newer hardware.
If that fails, you are into TFTP country.

This isn't the easiest operation, so if you are forced to use it, you could try a web search to find videos that guide you through the process.
Different hardware, but same approach.

Hi, thanks so much for the reply. I'll spend some time reading over it and let you know how I get on, cheers.
My solution was to use the "DMZ" in the BT gateway.
Maybe you can get help with this on the PlusNet community.
