Unable to configure nighthawk RAX40

No access to Router setup page BUT using the defaults after resetting router, I was able to connect via WiFi using factory default SSID and default Password. reset HOWEVER, essentially leaving it with no personal security. I have internet access as well. Cannot find a way to configure this router. I’ve setup many routers in the past with no issues but this one is quite different. Any help to configure the router would be much appreciated. Thanks

  • Which firmware are you on?

What modem/gateway is it connected to?

Are you trying to install with the app or using the browser based mothod? I'd recommend setting up via the browser.

Thanks very much for your reply.
      Firmware 1.03.80_1.0.1
I think I had some strange error with the ethernet direct cable connection to the router preventing me from accessing the setup page in the router. even several resets. I managed to get in to the setup page using WiFi. I managed to get the router configured as desired but saw no difference in the useable footprint for either 2.5 GHz or the 5GHz Band over the built in wireless of the Spectrum Modem. That was surprising but I did find the trouble reported by another user with this firmware build using with Spectrum. About the same time I discovered the Nighthawk offered no real improvement in RF coverage, I notice the WiFi performance terribly degraded. At that point I begin to wonder if there i have the same issue reported here previously. Since I purchased this modem used I was unable to get any support from Netgear and why I appreciate this forum so very much. As it turns out, I believe the degradation in WiFi performance was a mere coincidence since the Nighthawk is not connected or even powered on at the moment and the internet is still way below normal throughput. I would like to revisit this again after tomorrow when Spectrum is to come by for a test and perhaps a replacement modem .

      Thanks!!
