No Parental Controls on RBR750

Hi All,

I have an Orbi RBR750 system that I purchased back in May. Recently I noticed my Circle Plus device stopped working and have read about the Netgear Parental Controls.

Unfortunately, I can't find it in the web interface or in the App. I am running the most current firmware for the router: V4.6.14.3_2.3.12

I have read in other posts that doing a factory reset helps. This did not work for me. I also deleted the Orbi App from my iPhone and downloaded a fresh copy. Still no joy. It is configured as a router. After the factory reset, I was prompted to try a 30 trial of Amour. I did that. Still no joy.

Any help would be appreciated.

Is the RBR750 the "Circle Plus device" you mention?

What happened when it "stopped working"?

Which Netgear Parental Controls have you read about?

Good questions. I'll provide more detail.

When I purchased the Orbi RBK752 Kit back in May, I already had a stand alone Circle Plus appliance on my network. If I recall, you could either use the build in Circle functions on the Orbi or the appliance. I opted to NOT use the build in Circle functions.

A few months ago, I used the Circle App on my phone to see usage of my kids. All of the usage dropped to zero. Also porn sites were readily available to ALL users.

The Circle App seemed fine. It could connect to the Circle Plus appliance. I could update setting and it could see all devices, but there was zero content filtering or website monitoring.

I saw a couple of articles on this forum that mentioned the need to do a factory reset (which I did after getting the current firmware). I used the direct interface for the orbi (at http://192.168.1.1) to do the setup. It never asked me about Parental Controls.

Maybe I need to do a factory reset and make sure the Circle Appliance is not on the network?

Thanks for the response. I hope that clarifies. I am assuming that the Circle Appliance is simply not compatible with the RB750 Orbi anymore and that I must use Netgear's Parental Controls subscription instead.

I just can't find anyway to set it up. It keeps referring to menus that simply don't exist in the Orbi interface or Orbi app.

      Thanks for the response.

Did you set up a subscription to pay for Circe Plus? It doesn't come free.

Maybe you ran out of a trial run.

That will get you nowhere without a paid subscription.

  • Hope no one minds the reboot a few years later....

Working with an Orbi RBR750 running V7.2.7.15_5.1.16, and any time I go to add a device to Apple Home, get messages that router does not support HomeKit. Have to say I am am a bit surprised, especially when there is a dedicated band for IOT, to the point where I am thinking it must be me and configuration settings preventing devices from being added to HomeKit.

Anyone running HomeKit from an Orbi? What tips or tricks worked to get the devices added?
Adding a device works as expected up until the last second when the error is displayed.

Thank you in advance for any input...

Netgear routers do not function as a HomeKit server.

The Internet of Things (IoT) WiFi network was created by Netgear to address the problem some users experience when the smartphone app for this new gizmo is poorly written and will not function when the smartphone is connected to WiFi at 5G.  Because the IoT network 5G signal can be temporarily disabled (which forces a smartphone to connect to it at 2.4G), the gizmo can be connected and then the 5G IoT signal can be enabled again.  The IoT network has nothing to do with HomeKit (or any other "smart home" functionality).

Familiar with HomeKit Hubs (in my case a HomePod and iPad, and iPhone all represent Hubs.

Also had a HomeBridge server set up a few years back - this is not part of the ecosystem any longer.

Homekit also requires a homekit compatible router. Given the Orbi is a tri-band (required for Home Kit support)  I simply expected HomeKit would be supported by Netgear/Orbi in 2025. Take for example Linksys MX4200 or WHO03 Velops—Tri-bands.

So, the HomePod does not connect to the WiFi network?

Two HomePods and an iPad (dedicated to just the iot netowrk) are on the Orbi WiFi 2.5 network.

Adding any device gives the same error.
      • Open Home Add

      • Select add button

      • Select new device

      • Scan sticker

      • Enter code

      • Error

Tried 4 devices. Each device manually removed from previous network. Each device factory restored.
