RAX10 / AX1800 - Parental control broken / Device traffic history empty
I purchased this router a few months ago, paid for the parental controls system, and had parental controls all working as expected. A few days ago, I noticed the kids were using the internet more...

Tried downgrading the firmware. Didn't help.
Put the firmware back to the latest, reset to factory defaults, reconfigured everything ... and it seems to be working now.
Although i'm glad this is now working, it was super annoying, and beyond the skills of the average user to triage and fix this. I hope this is a one-off, will probably be turning off auto firmware updates now :P.
Thanks everyone for the help!

Try here:
Circle Smart Parental Controls
or
NETGEAR Smart Home Parental Controls
While many questions about routers are generic and could be answered anywhere, some things need specialist knowledge. In your case, the RAX40 doesn't have much in common with the DSL Modems & Routers covered here.
You might get more help, and find earlier questions and answers specific to your device, in the appropriate section for your hardware. That's probably here:
Nighthawk Routers with WiFi 6 (AX) - NETGEAR Communities
In the meantime you could visit the support pages:
Support | NETGEAR
Feed in your model number and check the documentation for your hardware. Look at the label on the device for the model number.
You may have done this already. I can't tell from your message.
I mention it because Netgear stopped supplying printed manuals and CD versions some years ago and people sometimes miss the downloads.
- TheShamsFeb 08, 2022GuideThanks, there was at least one post there that sounded like my issue. The solution seemed to be a factory reset, which I presume would downgrade the firmware to the version originally supplied with.
I'll hopefully have time to try this out tonight, and will report back.- michaelkenwardFeb 08, 2022Guru - Experienced User
