smart parental control is not available in hk

It is extremely disappointed that orbi system only provide smart parental control in most of the world but not in HongKong.

What we expect is a fully functional orbi system with advanced features. It must specify clearly in the packaging if your company can't provide smart parental control function. Guess your company only want to treat it privately. even the customer support from the distributor emphasis that it is the software issue and can't be solved..

Any solution?

Please identify which Orbi package this is.

I looked at the Product Data Sheet for the RBK752 package and found nothing to indicate that there are any country limitations.

Could you be so kind as to attach a screen shot of the information that confirmed that Smart Parental Controls are not available in Hong Kong?

(I do not work for Netgear, but am interested in the accuracy of their published information.)

I agree 100% that Netgear should not 'hide' this information on a KnowledgeBase article and not provide any link on the Product Data Sheet to it.  I'll make a note of this KB page.

It's also interesting that most of the world is not capable of Smart Parental Controls.

        • Most of the EU
        • All of Africa
        • All of South and Central America
        • All of Asia

Netgear has set up a community forum specifically for the Smart Parental Controls/Circle product. Most of the people who watch that forum are more likely to have experience with Smart Parental Controls and Circle. Might be more likely to find someone who has a solution if the question is posted there:

    Thank you.

  • Indeed, it is very disappointing! You could try the software for 30 days by changing to a supported country under account management. But then thereafter, you will need to find another solution. I have tried subscribing the service, but the software verifies your payment region. So clearly is the software!! At the end, I switch to another solution which includes anti-virus, VPN and parental control, all under a centralized app. Besides, one of the drawback on Orbi's parental control is that you can only monitor and control under a local network.

Although I no longer need to control my parents, I would love to see a link to the product/service that you chose.

  • I switched to Bitdefender Total Security! At first, I was scaptical! As I have read few reviews on the reliability of the parental control, many negative comments! But you can again try for 30 days! Bitdefender is well known for its security features, namely anti-virus! It is quite a stellar! I have been exploring the parental control for a while now, and I think the app works for me. In fact I could even block remote application since it last opened, this feature couldn't be done on Circle or on Orbi's parental control. Overall I am quite satisified using Bitdefender. It works on LAN and also on mobile, no zone restriction! It is a pity that for such an expensive router, the services are not equally offered globally!

Also another point if anyone thinking to subscribe for the Netgear Armor, I would suggest simply go to BitDefender website and subscribe directly, cheaper and more functions!
