If you get email notifications....
Maybe these defaults should change? It's not intuitive that not all email notifications are sent! --->
You may want to check these settings under your user -> My Settings -> Follows & Notifications, at the bottom - as shown, the default will result in minimal email notifications of new posts being sent to you! Change settings if you want all the notifications in boards/forums and threads you are interested in emailed to you.

For many years I have used RSS feeds to follow new activity in the community.
This feature now seems to be dead. So email can be more important.
