A new chassis, do you mean a new ReadyNAS NV+ exactly ? Or there are models with same Hardware in Netgear Catalog ? Thinking there are not anymore SPARC model.

It's too bad that "X-Raid" netgear technology cannot abstract configuration hardware. Would be nice if we just have to buy any Netgear ReadyNas. Do i have to understand that my Ready nas is a fully material RAID ? And not hybrid Software/Hardware.
A little bit of a hassle I guess, but now they are focusing on the x86 and arm models and units now are more future proof (basically just transfer drives from one NAS to another. Have you considered getting the newer models like the 200 and 300 series? They're pretty good.

You said that OS is saved on the drive. Are you sure ? Because my NV+ works without drive, i have see a 1gb drive, but not sure... How can i make a OS Backup from the nas ?
Thanks
Yes, the OS and configuration are saved on the drives. Chassis will boot up without drives because of the flash. Do you mean backup of the config ? That can be done. But if you mean a complete linux system backup it might be a lot of work and a bit complicated.
