It might help if you said which design of plug you have.
US? UK? Europe?
On some UK Powerline plugs the earth prong is just there to operate the mains socket. It has no electrical connection.

Sorry yes, it's a UK plug. The prong seems to be made of plastic, and there's no metal inside it, so I guess it doesn't hold power, but just in case, is it still OK to use?

Your call really.
Will it work without the prong?
I'd be tempted to try it.
If possible, glue the prong back on and then try it. If it blows a fuse, you have lost nothing.
