Can't Ping PL1200 Powerline

I need to troubleshoot a device that is connected to my Powerline 1200 Adapter. So I need to make sure that my Powerline Adapter is working correctly. I simply want to PING it. However, I cannot find the IP address anywhere.  I check my Netgear router, and it doesn't show up there. Why?  I have internet connectivity, but it doesn't show up in my router devices.

So the simple question is, how do I ping my Powerline adapter.  (Please don't ask "why", it's irrelevant and complicated). I simply need to make sure its attached and working, and one way to do that is to ping it. IF there is another way, I am all ears for that too. But because I am having issues with devices on the other side of the connection, I need to make sure the connection from the powerline adapter to the router is working too.

Thanks.

It doesn't have one. Think of it as a bit of wire. Or even a switch. No IP address there either.

Netgear's utility for Power line is old and hopeless. It doesn't even  support newer plugs. But if you look for something like the ZyXel powerline utility it will do things that the Netgear one won't.

Any powerline utility might provide some clues.
