Yes, and possible no. Yes the powerline should connect them. Powerline is basically a replacment for an ethernet cable. It doesn't care what its hooked to.
Your house wiring will matter the most. Powerline is sensitive to interference from gfci outlets, arc fault outlets, cell phone chargers, high draw motors, etc. Problem is the only real way to know is to test a set and see how they connect. I've had great connections on some circuits and poor on others. It all goes back to your house and what is on the circuits being used. The newest generation has helped with this but its still something to keep in mind.
