PL1200 wifi extender recommendations

I own the powerline pl1200 and I'm looking to add a wifi extender to the powerline network, looking for product recommendations.  I would've contacted netgear directly but their "technical support" period is already over.  Should I stick with netgear products or look elsewhere?

You could do either. Thats the benefit to powerline is that it follows a certain spec and the devices using that spec should be compatible.

You could also just use a powerline device and an old router that you put in AP mode. Or even a newer router in AP mode.

Only reason I mention that is I find the powerline line wireless devices a little limited. Plus then you have a backup if your primary router ever fails.

I doubt if "technical support" would be much help. You really need pre-sales help, but even there my guess is that you will get more experienced support here.

As plemans says, any brand would do fine.

If this is a reference to Powerline plugs with a combined AP, these are, indeed, very limited in my experience. Fine for filling a room, but not much good for larger areas.

I have an Orbi router in AP mode on the end of a Powerline Ethernet link. Works fine and can feed extra satellites.

If you have an old router lying around, try that before parting with cash.
