By swap, do you mean replace the second plug with another plug with a built-in access point?
That would work, but the Access Point bit of those plugs isn't great. You may also have to buy a bundle because Netgear does not sell stand-alone AP plugs. Unless you need extra plugs, making four in all, that would be a waste.
Other brands do sell AP plugs, and they should be compatible.
A better option might be to stick with the existing plug and use it to feed Ethernet to another AP. Most Netgear extenders work in AP mode as well as repeater mode. And AP mode should be faster. You could even use an old router in AP mode. Then you have the extra LAN ports on the router for other things.
I use Powerline Ethernet to feed a satellite from a Mesh system. Works well.
