The Remote Adapter is in my Master Bedroom on the first floor. I noticed that when I hold the remote adapter to unplug/plug back on, it is very hot.
Is it directly into the wall socket, or an adapter of some sort?
Netgear advises against adapters, but I have never noticed any difference. I am more interested in the electrical connection. If it is overheating, maybe there is an electrical issue on the socket. Any chance of trying the plug in a different mains socket?
A quick test would be to swap the plugs around. They don't care which is connected to the router. If the behaviour goes away, that would suggest that the plug is the problem. At four months old, they are still under warranty.

My setup on the remote adapter is I have a Wireless Router hard wired to the Remote PLP Adapter and My TV is hard wired to the wireless router.
I have a similar setup. Is the remote router in AP mode? It should be to avoid conflicts with the main router where the source plug sits.
