PLP2000 set up
I am connecting a PLP2000 to my router on one end and to a detached building on the other end. On the detached side I am plugging directly into a wifi extender. Will this work or do I need an actual router on the detached end to get the wifi signal?

You can hardwire in an extender but the extender will need to be setup in access point mode to function hardwired in.
Your powerline speed might not be the greatest just because of distance/interference but if it works. so should the extender.

It isn't just distance that can get in the way. Separate buildings are often on their own mains circuits, with fuse boxes and isolators between buildings. Powerline signals can have a hard time getting over those obstacles.
