Power line low speeds
I'm using my Netgear PL1000 as a device to get ethernet to my desktop. I noticed the speeds are unreasonably slow. I pay for a 300mb internet speed. My Nighthawk router is on the main floor and the 1s...
Powerline is sensitive to interference. and many things cause interference on powerline.
Key things?
1. distance. if the powerline devices are on seperate circuits, the distance can be quite far. And the speeds drop with distance and extra circuit breakers.
2. circuit breakers/outlets. arc fault, gfci, surge protectors, and even just having seperate circuits can cause interfernce and drop speeds
3. Old/bad/poorly wired homes cause add interference
4. Other electronics. Cheaply made electronics can add interference. So can devices that are going bad or poorly made.
Basically many things impact powerline. if you're hitting 200mbps over wireless, I'd stick with wireless. powerline might have a bit lower latency but hitting 200mbps covers pretty much anything you're going to do other than large file downloads. (for example, streaming 4k only takes 25-40mbps, gaming on 4k is even less)
