Powerline 1200 extra outlet offers outlet but device is so large it blocks the other

Do the designer of the product actually use the devices? I had such good results with the standard 1-port Powerline 1200 through out my house that I decided to purchased the model with the extra outlet. You know, to free up the use of the outlet. Well that doesnt work be cause the size of the device blocks the ability to use the unused outlet. So this thing it was designed to do doesn't work. Go figure! It must have slipped past the QC process or they live in a world were there are no standard electicle recepticles.

    Works fine here.

Plug powerline device into mains socket.

Plug something else into mains socket on powerline device.

    But maybe I misunderstood.

It may work for a standard two prong plug but does not work with three prong plugs. I have tried several different power strips and even a short extension cord to plug the power strip into. No luck. I have tried the two big box hardware stores and no of the options will work without modification.

If the design was a bit smaller like the non-extra outlet model this would be a non-issue. As I stated, "do the designers actually use the product?"
