Powerline adapters - different brands

Question

I purchased some Devolo powerline adapters in order to create a PLC network in my apartment, but then I saw a great price on some Netgear XAVB-2602 adapters and was thinking about using them to connect more devices.

Can I mix and match adapters from different manufacturers on the same network? I read in a product review on Amazon that I couldn't, but since I don't believe everything I read on the internet, I wanted to verify elsewhere.

power line products do have standard protocol that they go by

Homeplug protocol. When both units uses same protocol you should able to use but not sure how much guarantee it is when mixed.

I would suggest to use same brand

Thanks for the info.  I'll take a look at that when I look at the specs of each brand.
