Powerline AV 200 Mini Set XAVB 1301 - can I add an additional adapter?
Hello I would like to add another adapter to my Powerline set so I can use an additional device in another room. Is this possible? Can I buy an extra adapter and simply plug it in or do I need to do...

You can add extra extenders. But keep in mind that wifi extenders will run at the speed of the slowest device.
And they need to be compatible with the standards of the device you're using.

- spiderpoo2Jan 30, 2021AspirantThank you so much for your reply. That is great news! I cannot find the netgear recommended product available anywhere (ie the one which is the same spec as mine or stated as having been compatible in the article). I think mine is quite an old one now so maybe these are not even made any more.
Would a different spec one work eg 500mps (instead of 200 which the current ones are), or a different manufacturer? As I have to buy online I really need advice on which exact product would work if anyone can help me.
Thanks again community!- michaelkenwardJan 30, 2021Guru - Experienced User
Most recent Powerline devices follow the AV standard, which means that you can mix different makes and different generations.
As plemans says, the main issue if that if you add "1000" plugs to a network with "500" plugs, or vice versa, they will talk to each other at the speed of the slowest plugs on the network.
You have AV200 plugs. You won't be able buy them now. The slightly nedwer AV500 may be around, but the newer "PL1000" is the most common.
Remember, you need only one "source" plug connected to the router. But you may find it hard to get single plugs. Most brands supply them in bundles of two or more. When adding new plugs to an existing network, you need to follow this advice:

One other thing to consider, in theory you can mix brands but it isn't always easy to get set them up.
