Powerline AV500 XWN5001 ethernet connect fine, wifi shows no internet

Very strange problem.  Home internet extender using XWN5001 works perfectly if you ethernet connect to the modules.  Wifi connection seems to connect the carrier so, for exemple, ROKU shows connected to the XWN5001 but there is no internet connection.  But if I plug into the device with an ethernet cable there is an internet connection and it works fine.  I have tried three different XWNs I own with the same result.  As long as I am plugged into the module with an ethernet cable great connect to internet.  Unplug the cable and log onto the wifi of the XWNs, shows good connection but there is no internet on the wifi carrier.

Played around with Netgear Genie trying to find the root of the problem with no success.  All of the 4 XWNs in my system have been factory reset.  There is no password required.
