The Factory Reset button is on the bottom. See page 7 of the user manual.
Page 14 describes using the reset button.
Anyone who has physical access to an electronic device can reset it to factory specifications and erase all passwords and configurations. Passwords can prevent access to information. They cannot prevent someone from reusing a device with new passwords.

Many thanks for info CrimpOn. Looked into user manuals and they aren’t going to cover my situation. I guess I am looking for some way to reset everything and, thinking about it, that’s why we have passwords so someone cannot do what I am trying to do. I think I am on a loser. Thanks for your input anyway.

Thanks to all. With your support and assistance, and switching on my aging grey matter, I have achieved success.

That's good.
With luck the SOLVED flag will guide anyone who turns up here later seeking help.

The solution turned out to be simple but I would put it down to my lack of knowledge of and experience with new technologies. The Quick Start booklet did not indicate where to find the password for the Netgear##-EXT network when installing the adapters. The more comprehensive user manual I was directed to explained that the password is actually on the product label on the adapter and there it is called the ‘WiFi Key’.
