I have the same issue with a XAVB 2501 Kit of two adapters. It seems that the devices wake up from power save only when they recive a signal from the connected ethernet and not from the distant powerline adapter. If this is by design it is surely a defect since powrline adapters are supposed to work as an ethernet cable / network and act as such.
Since routers/switch don't communicate regularily with the connected devices the powerline adapter goes into powersave. When a windows pc connects it sends various messages that are broadcasted from the switch and therefore the adapter wakes up.
I bought the kit to connect a tv with the router but I can't really use it without resetting the adapters.
