Power line devices should have utility to see what the is connectivity between two XET is connected.
Because using power do fluctuate any given time so even this model is max at 85Mbps at best condition you may not reach as well.
Some model has LED indication to tell you different Rates (Mbps) at the moment but if that is not the case then you need to use netgear utility to check the rates(Mbps)
I assume either side of power line is not connected to surge protector and directly to the outlet itself.
