Using a Powerline 1000 extender on a Spectrum internet

I just got a Powerline 1000 with a Wifi extender, and I had set everything up correctly with the instructions. However when I connected to the router, my iOS device says "weak security" and it wants me to change to WPA3. I tried to access www(.)mywifiext(.)net but it says I'm not connected to the extender and I don't own a netgear nighthawk, just a Spectrum modem and router that is connected to the Powerline with a ethernet cable.

Is there a workaround to access the wifi control panel? Do I need to connect the wifi extender ethernet to a laptop?

To get access to the extender, you need to track down the IP address of the access point on your network.

One way to do this by looking at the a web browser and the graphical user interface (GUI) for your router. Look for a list of "attached devices" and the IP address for your AP.

Is that one of the combined AP/Powerline plugs, or are you feeding a separate AP from the plug? On its own, the plug doesn't have an IP address. That is down to the AP bit.

When you get into the AP, you could see if there is a way to fix the IP address it uses. Or you can see if the router has an option to reserve an IP address for the AP. The you will know which IP address to go to when you want to play with its settings.

That may be a red herring. Apple likes to think that it rules the world, but in reality it is just another IT business, albeit one with an inflated view of its importance.
