As an update. I found a Netgear PLW1000v2 on ebay. It arrived today. I plugged it into an AC socket and it worked fine connecting to my AV200. Granted the speeds aren't stellar but neither is my network provider. And another interesting point is that in the instructions for the PowerLINE WiFi 1000 set say that you can use up to eight extra units. But you can't buy separate units. Except, it seems, on ebay.

Some people have hit a wall when they connect a sixth plug.

Interesting but how do they get the six units? Buy six kits?

Three twofers. Or two three packs.

The plugs on the network will adopt the speed of the slowest. So you will see it all running at the speed pf the PLW1000v2.
I defy you to detect any difference.
