Using powerine adapters across two separate power rings
Hi
I am looking for some assistance in trying to use powerline adapters in my house.
The house has two separate mains rings.
One in the original house and a separate one in an extension.
I am trying to get connectivity around the whole building.
I have my adsl router plugged into the house ring, and I have a separate network switch plugged into the extension ring mains. these two devices are linked with an ethernet cable.
I have plugged a powerline adapter into the switch in the extension, and it allows me to use powerline devices throughout the extension.
Separately I have connected a powerline adapter to my router in the main house, and it allows me to use powerline in the main house.
However if i connect a powerline device to the router and additionally to the switch, I get no connection at all , and my internet connection does not work.
Is it possible for powerline adpaters to be configured to allow this to work, or can I use them in only one of the locations (i.e. the house or the extension, but not both)
Any help would be appreciated.

- jmizoguchiVirtuosoIt has to be on same circuit.
It will not work going to work with two different circuit :) - DouglasFAspirantThanks for the response.
I will just have to switch them on separately.
So I can use powerline in one side of the house or the other.
But unfortunately not both at the same time. :( - jmizoguchiVirtuosoIf you are able to connect pair on each circuit and you can connect router then that is fine.
- DouglasFAspirantHi
Can you clarify, your last response.
If I connect one pair on the ring in the extension (connected to switch)
and one pair on the ring in the house (connected to router) , it does not work.
Thanks - jmizoguchiVirtuosoThat would not work.
You need physically connect both pair on EACH circuit separately, bldg1 & bldg2
ethernet cable from BOTH bldg can connect to main router then it will work.
