Just an update here to report some progress, although things have not been resolved 100% yet.
I had tried everything to get the Powerline Utility working, using the Windows XP Service Pack 2 compatibility settings recommended for Windows 7 in one of the Netgear support docs, trying other compatibility settings (I'm running Windows 8). I had already made sure I was running the most recent Windows Powerline Utility available in the download section. Still, I kept receiving the message "No device in the network."
Then looking at the download list again last night, I saw below the most recent "Windows Powerline Utility Version 2.0.0.14" a download labelled "Powerline Universal Utility Version 3.1.0.4." I figured I would try that, and lo and behold, suddenly there were my Powerline devices.
I was able to configure the XAVN2001, giving it a network name, putting it on the WPA2 protocol, and assigning it a password. I checked, and it shows up as an available network!
The downside, which I am working on: no device can connect to it. Does anyone have any suggestions for recommended wireless settings?
