XAU2511 not detect Samsung CLX-3300 USB Printer ?

Hi! ;)

Samsung CLX-3300 Printer work correctly by direct USB connection with a Windows PC machine

But the USB port of Powerline XAU2511 do not seem to detect the Samsung CLX-3300 USB Printer

Tested with 2 USB cables no difference.
One cable have led on the connectors, I can see the cable having voltage on it.

if I put an USB key on the XAU2511 it work.

is there a problem with XAU2511 and CLX-3300 Printer ?

Before my updates, I have start to test with the furnished softwares and firmware, but it change nothing...

Now I use :

NETGEAR_Powerline_Setup_V3.1.0.4_230-10802-06
NETGEAR_USB_Media_Extender_Setup_V1.34_230-11213-02

In web-admin management menu I can see :

XAU2511
Firmware to V0.2.1.7CE

I have already tried to update the firmware to that version, problem rest the same.

I have checked with the Windows utilities and by the web-admin Management menu, the printer is always not detected.

Can I be wrong somewhere ? Or is there a real problem ?

Thank you

  • it works!

    I will explain...

I have contacted Netgear support, they have said me :
you need to activate USB identification on your printer. Contact Samsung.

I have contacted Samsung support, they have said me :
There is nothing to enable on this model, this is a "basic simple color laser printer".
& The printer is not conceived to work by a CPL-USB Adapter.
    ... ok ... ok

    Solution :
The solution I have found, by doing a stupid test (nothing to lose)...
is to use an USB Signal amplifier :)

I have on hand that amplifier-cable... it is why I have tested it.

*** I use an USB cable with an integrated amplifier Trendnet TUE2-EX5
Scanner and Printer are recognized and seem to work correctly ;)

    Why does it works ?
I do not know exactly, but I suspect the USB Signal of some printers, to be perhaps too weak...
It could perhaps explain, why sometimes some Powerline products, do not seem to work with certain printers.

If some have links with Netgear HQ, they should report that information to improve the future versions of the Powerline products.

I hope that information will help you ;)
