XAV101 - problem after firmware update

Hi, I have a similar problem. I just got a pair of XAV101 powerline adapters and when I plugged them in office room (1) and downstairs (1) they worked fine. I then installed the software from the CD; update and diagnostic utility. I decided to update the firmware, and after doing so, now have the same issue.
Both adapters work fine if I plug them individually (with the ethernet cable connected to the modem) in the office room, which makes me thing that they are both capable of working. However, if I plug any of them into any other outlet, all I get is a blinking green light power light. I have tried resetting to factory default, etc and have not been able to resolve the issue.
If anyone has any ideas, please respond.
