I am having the EXACT same problem myself!!!
When I installed the software, it asked if I wanted to upgrade the firmware, which I did. However, I found that the remote XAV101 (the one communicating over powerline) had the firmware update FAIL.
However - it's still reporting that it has the latest firmware, even though it failed, so I have no way to update the firmware again (while connected with a cable). Where can I find a .bin file to try and use the older utility to update the firmware manually???
Man, talk about taking an easy process (old firmware update process) and making it useless! There needs to be a way to force the firmware update, even if the version on the adapter is the latest version!
This sucks!
