Dear friends,
A few days ago i had the same problem and I was able to fix it using a simples procedure called TFTP Flash.
I found out that after we turn the powerline on with the ethernet cable plugged, the ethernet light stays on, as if it was working, however it is not.
So I did the following:
1. Download and unzipped the firmware file to any folder
2. Open command line windows (windows xp), go the the firmware file folder and type the following "tftp -i 192.168.1.1 put firmwarefilename
3. Connect the computer to the powerline adapter and turn it on
4. after the ethernet light comes up, just hit enter
The upload will be completed very quickly (maybe 3 seconds). After that, just unplug and plug back the powerline adapter.
It seems that for a few seconds the powerline adapter will accept a TFTP client to upload the new firmware. And it worked for me.
I hope it works for you guys.
