Ya, I just got this today and have already run into the permanent power save mode issue. Same thing it looks like to fix it, you have to unplug and replug in the 5004 portion, and then all is fine.
Hopefully a firmware fix is in the works. I guess in the meantime, I'll do even better power saving and just leave it unplugged while not in use.
