From what I could find, xav5601 is a homeplug AV device. Homeplug av is compatible with Homeplug AV and AV2. They will operate at the slowest devices speed though. The XWNB5602 is a homeplug AV device as well from its spec sheet.

Great. Thats very helpful cos the device I want to use with the wifi doesn't support N.
Its only 802.11g .. so now I have more options.

AV stuff is compatible, but Netgear does not see the powerline access point on it own. It sells the bundle with the "host" plug and the AP.
You can use the spare plug as another wired terminal, or you could look for an alternative brand that sells single AP plugs.
