XAVB2501 expansion required ?

Yes i could use a switch or hub, in fact i have one, but i don't have a great deal of space. This room is rather small and the equipment sits on a desk, below the desk the room only has one power socket, into this goes the xavb2501 and into this i have a 6plug power extension strip that sits on the desk. Basically just looking for a simple solution that will not take up much room, i realise this may not be opt 1 as it doesn't have a pass through.
Wasn't to sure how compatible the netgear powerline kit is, was told by a salesman at broadband buyer that netgear power line kit was pants and maybe i should look at Devolo.
I don't mind buying a new pair of power line adapters but i see it being handy if the old ones are compatible for use elsewhere in the house.
