Hmmm, before I return these I tried the two devices plugged into a two gang wall socket and my router networked into one and a target device into the other. So they are right next to one another in terms of power wiring. All the lights are green up until I try to access the target device. I tried a NAS and a full PC with the same result. As soon as I try and access the target device, the powerline adapter connected to it just goes through this cycle:
- all lights off
- power and ethernet flash green while powerline light flashes amber
- power and powerline lights flash green
- ethernet light turns green
- all lights are on green now
- all lights off ...
On the device my router is connected to all lights stay green.
I don't know all the details of this but to me it really does seems like the Netgear device is at fault here, so it's going back to Amazon. I still trust Netgear but I don't think I'd buy any more of their powerline adapters.
