You refer to the genie. This could be one of several things, the browser interface, a Windows or Mac program for a PC, or a mobile Android/iThing app. Software to manage a USB WiFi adapter. Netgear labels them all as genies. Which are you using?

If this is a Windows PC (which version?) you don/t need any genie to manage the Internet connection. The PC's own network controls can handle it.

All you have to install are the drivers for the adapter.

i am on windows 10 using and talking abt the a6100 genie that lets me connect to wifi. nothing shows up in my network settings using the standalone drivers, and using the standard drivers are useless bc the genie wont open.

Windows works without using the adapters genie to manage the connection. (You can use the desktop genie for the same task.) That was never written for newer versions of Windows.

The drivers are there so that Windows can manage the connection. If that doesn't work, then that could be the source of your problems.

Which drivers do you have installed? This is the latest:

        A6100 Software Version 1.0.0.36 - NETGEAR Support

Installing the standalone drivers puts this into Device Manager in Windows:

Note the bit about uninstalling older drivers.

Then Network & internet settings in Windows should show you a list of available networks. If not, your problem may be in Windows.

I should mention that to check all this, I dug out my old A6100. (I have other WiFi hardware on my PC.) I am also working in Windows 11, but there isn't much difference in Windows 10. It still works. I just gave up because I now have a 6GHz PCIe card in my PC.
