A6100

whenever i connect to my internet it puts me on the 2.4ghz connection instead of the 5ghz connection this is not my router as everything in my house connects just fine to 5ghz, it will sometimes switch up and connect o 5ghz for 15 min then switch back to 2.4ghz for no reason

    What router are you using? Are you using smart connect with your router? if so, the router determines which band you connect to. 

    Is your router ssid the same for both 2.4ghz and 5ghz? You can seperate them out if your router doesn't have smart connect built in.

        Google wifi uses a single ssid. I don't have a either a google wifi or a6100. From that perspective though either google wifi is choosing the band (like netgear orbi does), the device is choosing the band, or its a combination of the 2. What you can do is go into your device manager and under your driver for your a6100, many times there is an option for a preferred band and you can select either 2.4ghz or 5ghz. Not for sure the option is there since I don't have an a6100.
