A7000 Wif Adapter having Ping drops in online games

Finally got a wifi adaptor for my destop gaming computer. Setup goes fine I have internet, but then in the middle of playing online there is a huge ping drop that lasts about 15 sec then goes back to normal. 10 min of smoothness then the ping dips again. I have tried to secure it tighter into the usb port and also use the extension cord usb to connect it. Its sitting next to my wifi router right now, and its still having the same issue. Plugged my ethernet back in for a day and have no issue playing online. I already tried contacting netgear, but when I used the phone numbers I was given a dead line. Thinking about returning it to Best Buy, but I want to hear others opinions and if there is a better one out there maybe some advice.
