The Power Managemnet option seems to have worked for me. I did not switch it off for all USB ports, just the Netgear8000 port. device manager -> network adapters -> Netgear etc -> properties -> power management. Switch off "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.". I am still connecting to 5Ghz.
