AC600 WiFi USB Adaptor

I recently purchased this wifi adaptor (retailed as AC600 802.11ac Dual Band Adaptor). Installation etc all went OK. Hooked up to my 5ghz wifi home network and all ok. However whenever I boot my pc I have to manually open Netgear Genie and select the connection, previously with my old 2.4ghz pci-e card it would connect automatically. I cannot see any method of getting the AC600 to do likewise. 'Connect automatically when in range' in Win 10 settings for my network is on. Anyone got any thoughts?

    Try uninstalling the driver and setup utility. 

    Then reinstall it using the driver only. the "standalone" driver Then let windows handle the networking instead of the netgear genie.
