compatibility macos catalina
I just bought the Nighthawk AC1900 Wifi USB adapter. Will it work with Macos Catalina?

After Searching I found this tool, and it get it to work on Catalina. Hope it helps atleast temporarily until Netgear releases the fix

If Apple has broken something, then let them know as well as Netgear.
There is a good chance that other makers of USB Adapter's have fallen victim to the same bug.
It is not a bug.
Apple has changed the way applications are installed ontop of the operating system by introducing a read-only system volume.

Here is a link explainging what and why they changed it.
Doubtless that will help anyone who uses Macs. There won't be many of those here as Netgear support for USB adapters for Macs is limited.
This is one of the few discussions I have seen here on that front.
Pity it is design ineptitude rather than a bug. Bugs can get fixed.

Got the same issue after upgraded to Mac os Catalina (10.15)
The adapter no longer works, and the installer no longer supported.
I believe there is some breaking changes introduced in 10.15 in the way driver deal with the OS.
The A7000 is relatively new product and definiately still in the supported lifecycle.
A new driver supporting catalina should be developed.

Your right,
After watching the video posted in the previous post the two things needed are
1. since the root file is now read only and there is now a Stand alone partition for software, the software will now need to point the install to this standalone partition.
2. the install will have to be a 64bt install.
I spoke to somone at Netgear and was told they are working on installs for mojave and Catalina. But of corse there is no telling as to how long it will be before it would be dropped for the public.

I will check that out, thank you!

I installed it today and it works great. Thank you for your recommendation, it is much appreciated.

It's really too bad, I'll probably end up returning the product to Best Buy. Also, it's misleading to state "MacOS 10.8.3 or later" on the box.

The OSS WIFI solution posted here requires that you disable System Integrity Protection (SIP) which is a Mac OS security measure designed to protect against malware.

Unless you know the full ramifications, it's not a good idea to mess around with this.

So to update, looks like recent releases no longer require SIP to be disabled, which is great news.
The driver seems to work with my mobile tether, it is not working on Starbucks WIFI right now.
