Interference by Windows XP SP2

Had this Netgear WMA 1000 USB working fine on an old computer running Windows XP SP2. Hard drive failed and I had to reinstall XP and the Netgear WMA1000. Now, it connects to my WiFi network but it receives 0 packets from the Access Point(Router). Windows requires a workgroup be entered and I've  entered what it has always been for years but it still does not work. I've checked to make sure that all the services are running that could affect the connection but still no luck. Anyone have an idea of what this old operating system could be doing to mess up the connection?
