Net gear A6150 USB adapter working extremely poorly.

Purchased this product today and have been having a tough time with it. The divice is performing extremely poorly. I am about 4-5 metres away from the modem and I'm lucky to hit 3.5 Mbps. My lap top hit over 40 Mbps so the issue is not any obstacles. Does anyone have any solutions this is **bleep**. Cheers.
