NETGEAR A6150 USB WIFI USB 2.0 ADAPTER

I use a wireless A6150 adapter for my home desktop, and recently I've noticed it grows very hot, and the network drops as it is.  I've unplugged it and let it cool a few times, where it works, but recently it's seeming to happen more often then not.  I've grown quite annoyed with the charade, how can I go about fixing this issue?

The A6150 could be simply "worn out".  Similar (tiny) USB WiFi adapters from several vendors sell on Amazon for under $30. (many are WiFi6)  It might not be a horribly costly experiment to purchase one of those and see if it also overheats.

I've only had the thing since May, I don't see how it could be worn out after about 4 months of use, factoring the PC isn't used consistently.  If it comes to, I'll purchase a different adapter or something better, but I'd like to do it as a last effort.
