NETGEAR A6210 Wireless USB adapter

I bought one of these a long a time ago and it has been sitting in my pc for a long time I occasionally switch the port it uses but that’s about it then one day someone tells me that putting it in the USB 3.0 port on the motherboard will make it better so I do that . I check and see it’s no longer working no light or anything I check device manager and it’s not even showing up can someone help me with my problem?
