NetGear Genie - Network Map stopped working when installed A7000 (Nighthawk AC1900) wifi adapter

I have been using NetGear Genie (v2.4.62) on Windows 10 Home (OS build 19041.572) for maintaining my network (specifically parental controls and allowing/denying connections) with my WNDR4500v2 (N900 Wireless Gigabit router).  This was working fine when I had a Rosewill N900UBE wireless wifi adapter.

The Rosewill wifi adapter finally konked out, so I had to buy a new one.  I chose the Netgear A7000 (Nighthawk AC1900) WiFi adapter, thinking that it would well (maybe even better, being from the same company).  Now, the Network Map (and any parental controls or access controls by connected device) does not work.  It only shows a blue dash-dotted line from my machine (labeled "genie") to the router and a red dash-dotted line from the router to the internet (with a red circle and question mark) - see attached screenshot.

I am obviously still able to connect to the internet and my other connected devices work as well, but I can no longer control the network from my PC.

Another angle to this: I installed NetGear Genie (v2.4.62) on my wife's laptop (also Win10Home) last night, and it still sees the network map.  It appears the problem is with the new A7000 wifi adapter.  (This sucks that I paid extra for a Nighthawk that was supposed to improve performance, and instead I lost functionality!)
